FounderShield Refund Policy
Refund and cancellation policy for the FounderShield startup tier. Aligned with Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules 2020 r.5(3).
Aligned with Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules 2020 r.5(3) and our general CounselGrid Refund Policy.
1. Starter (Free) plan
The Starter plan is free of charge. There are no payments, hence no refunds. You may cancel your account at any time from Settings → Danger zone; we delete your data per the retention schedule in the Privacy Policy.
2. Pro plan (₹999 / month, ₹9,990 / year)
2.1 Cooling-off period
For founders newly subscribing to Pro, we offer a 7-day no-questions cooling-off period from the date of charge. To request a refund within this window, email contact@counselgrid.com from your registered email. We process the refund to the original payment method within 7 business days.
2.2 After the cooling-off period
Monthly subscriptions are non-refundable for the current billing cycle after the cooling-off period. You may cancel at any time and the cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle — you retain Pro access until then.
2.3 Annual subscriptions
Annual subscriptions are refundable on a pro-rated basis if cancelled within the first 60 days, less the equivalent monthly value of the months elapsed. After 60 days, annual subscriptions are non-refundable but cancellation prevents auto-renewal.
3. Scale plan (₹4,999 / month, ₹49,990 / year)
Same terms as Pro, with one addition: if a Scale customer experiences a confirmed service-credit event (defined in the Scale plan addendum), we issue a service credit equal to the affected billing cycle, applied to the next invoice.
4. Service credits — Pro and Scale
We issue service credits (not cash refunds) in the following events:
- FounderShield core API unavailable for > 4 consecutive hours in a calendar month
- AI review completion failure rate > 10% in a calendar month (measured server-side)
- Confirmed personal-data breach affecting your tenant under DPDP Act 2023
Service credits are calculated as a pro-rated portion of the affected billing cycle and applied to the next invoice. They are not transferable and not redeemable for cash.
5. How to request a refund
Email contact@counselgrid.com from your registered email with subject "FounderShield refund request — <your tenant id>". We acknowledge within 24 hours and resolve within 7 business days.
6. Lawyer marketplace engagements
When you engage a marketplace lawyer through FounderShield, your payment is to that lawyer, not to CounselGrid. Refund terms for lawyer engagements are governed by the engagement letter you sign with that lawyer. CounselGrid is not a party to lawyer fees and does not retain or refund them.
7. Disputes
Any dispute about refunds is governed by the dispute-resolution clause in the Startup Tier Terms (Indian law, arbitration seated in Bengaluru). You also retain your right to approach the appropriate Consumer Commission under Consumer Protection Act 2019 §34 (commission of your residence).
